RIVERVIEW, Mich., March 21, 2024 – DTE Vantage is converting biogas from a City of Riverview landfill into renewable natural gas (RNG) which will soon fuel vehicles as a cleaner alternative resource. The project is the result of a collaboration between the City of Riverview and Riverview Energy Systems ─ an entity jointly owned by DTE Vantage and a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources, LLC.

The project, which dates back to the late 1980s, converts an existing landfill- gas-to-renewable-electricity project into a new facility that captures the biogas produced at the landfill and upgrades it to pipeline-quality natural gas.  The RNG is then sent to a DTE Energy natural gas pipeline and attributed for use by transportation fuel customers. Project reaffirms DTE Vantage as one of the largest renewable natural gas producers in the Midwest 

BIRNAMWOOD, WIS., Feb. 16, 2023 – Methane from dairy cow manure will become sustainable renewable natural gas (RNG) at a new DTE Vantage biomass facility that begins operations this month in Birnamwood, Wis. The new DTE Vantage project with Matsche Farms, which manages approximately 10,000 cows and spans more than 5,000 acres of land, will produce enough RNG to fuel approximately 1,600 vehicles per year.

DTE Energy Services, a non-utility business of DTE Energy (NYSE: DTE), today announced it completed the $100 million purchase of the Marina Thermal Facility from SJI, an energy services holding company based in Folsom, New Jersey.!

Located in Atlantic City, the Marina Thermal Facility is an eight-megawatt combined heat and power generation facility that provides electricity and hot and chilled water to MGM’s Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa and The Water Club.

DTE Biomass Energy, a non-regulated subsidiary of DTE Energy (NYSE: DTE), today announced it has opened its first and the state of Wisconsin’s first combined dairy renewable natural gas (RNG) processing and interstate injection facility. With over three decades of experience in landfill waste-to-energy projects, DTE Biomass, along with local dairy farm partners, is leading the way in the Wisconsin dairy renewable energy movement.

A subsidiary of DTE Energy Co. will construct and operate a utility plant at Wayne County’s new criminal justice center east of downtown Detroit under a proposal that was submitted Wednesday to the county commission.

The Central Utility Plant will distribute electricity, gas, hot and cold water throughout the criminal justice complex on 11 acres at East Warren Avenue and I-75 that will include a 2,280-bed jail, 25 courtrooms, five hearing rooms, sheriff’s and prosecutor department offices and a 160-bed juvenile detention center.

The plant, which will be operated by DTE Energy Services, is estimated to cost between $32 million and $37.7 million. Under the deal, Wayne County would pay up to $35.2 million of the cost and Rock Ventures LLC will cover $2.5 million of the final cost, said Richard Kaufman, deputy county executive for Wayne County.

DTE Energy broke ground last week on a project with Wisconsin-based Pagel’s Ponderosa Dairy to begin creating renewable natural gas (RNG) generated from dairy cow waste as a fuel to power compressed natural gas vehicles, offsetting the use of fossil-based fuels.

Created exclusively by DTE Energy, an “ultra-low” emission energy infrastructure of the future will soon power Ford Motor Company’s Research and Engineering Center (REC) located on its Dearborn campus.  DTE will build, own and operate a host of advanced sustainability systems including natural air flow ventilation, geothermal heating and cooling, and solar in a state-of-the-art energy infrastructure serving the REC.

DTE Biomass Energy today announced it has acquired two landfill gas-to-energy projects in Texas, purchasing both the operating Fort Bend Power Producers, LLC facility just outside of Rosenberg and the Seabreeze landfill gas development project in Angleton. Construction of the Seabreeze plant is expected to commence next month.

Potrero Hills Energy Producers, a partnership between DTE Biomass Energy Inc. and Pacolet Milliken Enterprises, recently started generating electricity from landfill gas.  This cleaner source of electricity comes from a newly constructed renewable energy facility at the Potrero Hills Landfill in Suisun City, Calif.

DTE Biomass Energy has started operating a 3.2-megawatt (MW) landfill gas-to-energy facility at the Smith’s Creek Landfill in Kimball Township.

DTE Energy Services, Inc. (NYSE: DTE) (DTEES) recently received approval from the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District to convert an existing coal-fired power plant at the Port of Stockton to operate on biomass fuel.

DTE Energy has received approval from the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District in California to convert a coal-fired power plant to biomass fuel.

In July 2010, DTE bought the plant, which was closed in April 2009 after operating for 20 years. It is located at the Port of Stockton, a major deepwater port in Stockton, Calif., that is situated on the San Joaquin River.

The conversion will include a boiler replacement and installation of best available emission control technologies. When complete, the Port of Stockton District Energy Facility will combust 100 percent biomass fuel, mainly wood fuel derived from urban wood waste, tree trimmings and agricultural residues. John Austerberry, DTE Energy spokesman, said that the company is currently in negotiations with potential fuel suppliers and could not currently release fuel usage estimates.

Post-conversion, the combined-heat-and-power facility will produce 45 megawatts (MW) of electricity, which will be sold to Pacific Gas and Electric Co. under a long-term power purchase agreement.

DTE estimates that about 100 construction jobs will be created at peak construction, and about 50 full-time employees and contractors will be needed to operate and maintain the plant when the conversion is complete. Austerberry said DTE plans to begin the conversion July 1, and expects to complete work in July 2012.

The plant will gain credit under California’s renewable portfolio standard of 33 percent by 2020.

DTE Energy has several other biomass projects, including a similar, completed biomass conversion in Cassville, Wis., a conversion underway in Bakersfield, Calif., and two operating biomass power plants in Woodland, Calif., and Mobile, Ala.

DTE Energy Services (DTEES) is acquiring a significant interest in the 49.5-megawatt Mt. Poso Cogeneration Company power plant near Bakersfield.

The E.J. Stoneman Station biomass power plant, owned and operated by DTE Energy Services (Ann Arbor, Mich.), is delivering power. Dairyland Power Cooperative (La Crosse, Wis.) is purchasing the entire 40 MW output of the renewable energy facility to help serve the energy needs of its member cooperative consumers.

DTE Energy (NYSE: DTE) has reached an agreement to sell additional metallurgical coke that will increase utilization of capacity at its wholly owned coke batteries from approximately 60 percent to 85 percent.

Bellefontaine Gas Producers LLC today started commercial operation of its landfill gas-to-energy project at the Republic Services-owned Cherokee Run Landfill here.

Denton Power LLC started operation of its landfill gas-to-energy project at the City of Denton Landfill today.

Iredell Transmission LLC, which began operation of its landfill gas-to-electricity project at the Iredell County Landfill in August, expects to produce its 10,000th megawatt hour of electricity by the end of 2008, DTE Biomass Energy officials said today.

DTE Energy Services, Inc. (DTEES) has executed a purchase agreement for the acquisition of the E.J. Stoneman Power Plant from Integrys Energy Services, Inc., a subsidiary of Integrys Energy Group, Inc. (NYSE: TEG). DTEES plans to convert the 50-megawatt coal- fired plant in Cassville, WI, to burn wood waste, a renewable resource.

DTE Energy Services Inc. and ArcLight Capital Partners LLC have signed agreements to sell their interests in 984 megawatts of power generation facilities near Chicago to affiliates of Tenaska Capital Management LLC.

DTE Energy Services’ DTE Tonawanda plant was accepted by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) into its Voluntary Protection Program (VPP), a workplace safety and health recognition program.
